In the show it's distinctive because it indicates his father as a musician and doesn't speak about his articles or something like that. Dan and Jenny's mother went away on "vacation" and had not returned, but in the publications their mother had left Dan and Jenny when they were young and ran off with another man.

Though his prior work 'The OC' is near to my heart, it is heart-warming to enjoy an equivalent show with related elements. The cast general has completed an excellent job in Gossip Girl Seasons 1-5.
